Die Diplomarbeit he/his ist der Versuch, einen einfühlsamen Blick auf heutige gesellschaftliche Erwartungen an die männliche Spezies zu werfen und deren Umgang damit ästhetisch auf die Spitze zu treiben. Schwerpunkte dabei sind Verletzlichkeit, Anpassung und die Suche nach Schutz zwischen all den Optionen in einer Zeit eines vermeintlich befreiten Männerbildes, in der einerseits die Grenzen zwischen den Geschlechtern aufgeweicht scheinen und sich andererseits eine Fixierung auf immer plakativere Männlichkeitsattribute beobachten lässt.
The thesis "he/his" is an attempt to take an empathetic look at today's social expectations of the male species and to narrate how they deal with these expectations in an aesthetic way. The focus is on vulnerability, conformity, and the search for protection among all the options available in an era of supposedly liberated male identity, in which, on the one hand, the boundaries between the sexes seem to have softened and, on the other hand, a fixation on increasingly striking attributes of masculinity can be observed.
